A whopper of a cross between two famous parents; "Lunch Box" is a richer colored 'Leah Wilkerson' mimic that gets huge and develops high-contrast white and red pitchers, while 'Waccamaw' is one of the most sought-after, clean-colored var. atropurpurea out there with short but elegant blood red pitchers and yellow interior tubes that age to the same crimson color. This cross will likely produce plants that look like giant copper-topped x catesbaei. The pod parent is the largest of my oreophila "North Sound" x purpurea "Giant #1" clones, with 8-10 inch tall pitchers that sport massive hoods nearly as wide in some cases, and the pollen parent is my largest plant, throwing bronze-topped tubes over 30 inches tall even in my dry climate. Expect large, cold-hardy, vigorous, and bronze offspring. Packets contain approximately 20 seeds, and require cold stratification. This is a cross that is sure to produce tall, colorful showstoppers. The pod parent is a seed-grown clone of 'Hurricane Creek White' that often opens with a red exterior, before aging to pure green and white with a snow-clean mouth, and the pollen parent is an exceedingly tall and slender, heavily veined plant with huge lids. Resulting offspring will probably be heavily patterned in white with rich red veins and pale interior. Packets contain approximately 20 seeds, and require cold stratification. A cross with giant, colorful potential; the pod parent is a vermillion plant with red-on-red veining and an angular, gaping mouth not unlike the form of 'Reptilian Rose', and the pollen parent is a mimic of the famous 'Leah Wilkerson', a red and white giant with richer color. Offspring are likely to be vigorous, high-contrast in color, and may sport angular mouths; with any luck, this may produce plants with similar appearances to "Chaos" or "Crown of Thorns." I made this cross in hopes of bringing back out traits of 'Red Sumatra' and brightening them up with more white. The pod parent is an unknown cross with the well-known ruby red Florida x moorei cultivar, and displays variable color from green with stark red veins to richly ruby tinted around the mouth and lid. The pollen parent is a now famous giant 'Leah Wilkerson' mimic with high contrast red and white color and vigorous growth. Packets contain approximately 20 seeds, and require cold stratification. This is a cross with a lot of high color, high contrast, and weird-shape potential. The pod parent is a plant with vermillion pitchers and a gaping, angular mouth that does not look unlike some 'Reptilian Rose' pitchers, and the pollen parent is a giant of a plant with gaping pitchers that look almost like pure leucophylla. Offspring will hopefully have a lot of brilliant red and white contrast, and maybe some angular shapes similar to "Chaos" or 'Reptilian Rose.' CHECK LOCAL REGULATIONS BEFORE PURCHASING. Known by many names, Datura inoxia is a fast-growing annual plant native to the southern US and Central/South America that can display in a number of forms depending on conditions, from a small and scraggly herb to a bush up to 4 feet or more tall. The velvety leaves give off a pungent odor when disturbed, and the flowers, similar to their cousins the Angel's Trumpets, are large funnel-shaped white blooms that face skyward and are edged in odd tendrils. The seedpods provide another common name, thorn-apple, being incredibly spiky and moderately large. This is not a plant to be grown where small children or unwise animals may be present, as it is also famed for containing powerful psychoactive toxins and should not be eaten in any fashion. Packets contain approx. 10 seeds, and need no special treatment. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.

PLEASE CHECK LOCAL REGULATIONS BEFORE PURCHASING. Also known by such names as Devil's Trumpet or thorn-apple, this likely Central-American native is a fast-growing annual that forms short bushes of velvety, serrated leaves that will give off a pungent odor when disturbed. Like its larger cousin D. inoxia this form will produce white trumpet-shaped flowers, but tends to be smaller in stature with blooms averaging around 4-6" in length. The flowers are followed by spiky pods filled with black seeds. This is not a plant to be grown around small children or animals that like eating the garden flowers, as it contains powerful hallucinogenic toxins and should not be eaten. Packets contain approximately 20+ seeds, and need no special treatment to germinate. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). Grown for appearance but can be eaten too, as a colorful addition to salads etc., this ornamental pepper cultivar is a short, stocky plant that often doesn't get more than a foot or two tall, and once mature loads itself first with light purplish star-shaped flowers that develop into slender, curving fruits that age from white (in this variant; some may start out purple) through yellow, orange, and finally bright red. The fruits have no heat, nor much strong flavor (hence typically grown ornamental), and dry with ease. Packets (or dried fruits) contain approx. 20+ seeds. This may be one of the most impressive ornamental plants I have ever seen, let alone grown; plants can get 3 feet tall or more if grown for long periods of time, and under proper lighting develop leaves and stems that are, in fact, BLACK in color. Not the nearly-so purplish or maroon that a lot of plants may sport, this thing turns an ominous inky color when it's happy. The flowers and fruits are equally striking, blooms star-shaped and a rich, deep violet, turning into small round fruits that start out just as black as the rest of the plant before ripening to a brilliant scarlet, contrasting with the foliage. Though called ornamental, the fruits are edible, and pack a 20,000 Scoville rating heat (so if wanting to spice something without adding a lot of extra flavor, they're great to use). Packets or dried fruits contain approx. 20+ seeds. Originating from a wild Colorado locality years ago and since having been propagated in cultivation, this form of Rocky Mountain Iris is a spectacular plant in late spring bloom. Averaging around 2 feet tall when it flowers, the slender falls are a brilliant lavender-blue with white and yellow markings around the base while the standars are a similar, occasionally slightly darker hue. Though I cannot promise, this population did also contain pure white individuals whose genetics may be present among these seeds. The seeds require a 3 month cold stratification in winter, and may take 2-3 stratification cycles before germinating. Packets contain approx. 20+ seeds. PLEASE CHECK LOCAL REGULATIONS BEFORE PURCHASING. A fast-growing annual plant native to much of the US west coast and southwest, Coyote Tobacco  is a relatively slender-leaved plant that grows up to 3 feet or more in height and is covered in small, sticky glands. The small, tubular flowers are produced in profusion at the tips of the stems, ending in a five-petaled star and primarily blooming at night (see second photo, a large plant illuminated at night looks like a starscape). Used by Amerindian tribes as a ceremonial tobacco, today the plant's use can be primarily as a native hawkmoth attractant; larvae feed on the plants while the moths pollinate the flowers at night (and interestingly, if too many caterpillars are present they can make the plant switch to blooming in the daytime to reduce predation). Packets contain at least 100+ small seeds, that require no special treatment. Native to much of the western US, this is a cold-hardy biennial semi-shrub that lives its first year of life as a spreading rosette of heavily lobed, velcro-texture leaves. In its second year it grows anywhere from 2-5 feet tall, branching heavily and producing at the end of each branch one to three night- to morning-blooming flowers that can be nearly 6 inches across and are brilliantly lemon yellow, with a spray of filiform stigmas sticking out of the middle. These flowers are followed by odd cylindrical pods with the same velcro-like texture as the leaves, and each contain numerous flat blackish seeds. Sowing a handful of seeds two different years can ensure establishment of blooming generations every year. Packets contain approx. 30+ seeds, and require a 2-3 month cold stratification to germinate. A west-coast native aster also called common madia, this annual wildflower looks a lot better than its name suggests (which actually comes from the oily, fragrant leaves that smell like an herbal tar). Plants are scrambling semi-shrubs that can grow up to almost 4 feet tall, each stem branching profusely and tipped by 2 inch wide, bright yellow daisy-like flowers. The seeds can be eaten, baked like sunflower seeds or ground into flour. Packets contain approx. 20+ seeds, and require no special treatment to germinate. One of several US native species of blanketflower (though the exact species is unknown), this brilliant perennial produces fuzzy clusters of leaves from which tall stalks shoot up, topped by brilliant carmine blooms whose petals are edged in yellow. The flowers are followed by a puffball looking seedhead that falls apart into dozens of seeds. Packets contain approx. 20+ seeds, which may benefit from but don't necessarily need a cold stratification. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. My back yard has become an experimental breeding ground for brilliantly colored giant sunflowers, of which these seeds may produce a variety of appearances from. Influence has been had from Mammoth Russian, Evening Sunset, and a handful of other cultivars, producing plants that range anywhere from 5-12 feet tall and produce anything from several 8 inch blooms on branching stems to a singular bloom up to 15 inches across. Colors too can vary from yellow flushed with oranges and rust at the petal bases to entirely deep rusty red or maroon. Great for making garden borders or a sunflower forest to wander through, and some may even produce seeds big enough to roast and eat. Packets contain approximately 20+ seeds and require no special treatment to germinate. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). One of the quintessential beginner carnivorous plants, and one of the better ones to try if it's your first time with seeds. This species can grow to over a foot across (though usually 4-6 inches) with semi-erect, strap shaped leaves colored bright yellow-green with red tentacles. The leaves will actively move when stimulated by prey, wrapping around whatever is fed to or caught by them. Typically prolific in blooming, when happy they will send up hairy, foot long stalks with numerous very large, self-pollinating pink flowers. Packets contain 30-50+ seeds each. This species requires no special treatment for germination, and grows in a variety of conditions but will do best in sandy soils in cool, strong light environments. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail. US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. As the Rich Sweetness is to cantaloupe, so this is to a honeydew. The standard melon vine and yellow blooms produce squat, rounded and slightly ribbed melons up to about 4 inches in diameter, that when mature develop a striking orange color with two-tone green bands in between. The interior is mildly and musky-flavored and bright green, good for adding to smoothies or salads. Packets contain approx. 15 seeds each. If you like cantaloupe or other muskmelons and have a penchant for small and colorful, this is a great one to try out. The scrambling vines bear little yellow flowers that give way to roughly 4 inch long, ovular melons striped in rusty red-orange and cream/yellow, the flesh inside a creamy yellowish color similar to the "vine peach" melong and, in my experience so far, a bit less sweet than cantaloupe. Best started indoors and planted out after frost for a long growing season. Packets contain approx. 15 seeds each. While I have had its relative laevicaulis (the Giant Blazingstar) available in seed form for a while, this species known as the Bractless Blazingstar is a Great Plains native (these seeds are collected from our property) and slightly more suited to midwestern climates but the same sandy soil preference. Generally biennial in nature, plants grow as flat rosettes of velcro-textured leaves in their first year to build energy, then spike into tall stems up to 3 feet high and branching in the second, topped with flowers up to 4 inches wide that look like a white firework. Packets will contain approx. 20+ seeds each. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. Collected from plants that grow wild on our property in Platteville, this is a Colorado native but can be found through much of the Great Plains and into the mountain foothills. Seeds germinate after a cool winter stratification and like sandy, well-drained soils. Mature plants tend not to get much more than 12-18 inches tall, and in mid to late spring, early summer on a prolonged season, will reward you with some of the most electric to sky blue flowers you will ever see in your life, tinted with hints of pink or lavender. Packets will contain approx. 30+ seeds each. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. This form of D. intermedia is nearly identical in all ways to the standard variants, but for one detail: it's pure, glowing green. Plants tend to make rosettes around 2 inches in diameter, with paddle-shaped leaves splaying out in all directions. Color remains neon green no matter how strong the lighting is (but light should be high for best health in this full-sun plant). Flower stalks are of moderate height and bear small white blooms that self-pollinate readily. Seeds require a 4-week cold stratification to germinate.

Pygmy sundews are typically well-known for their habit of rarely producing seeds, and when they do, those seeds being tough to germinate...this is one of the few exceptions! D. omissa grows to not much more than an inch across, with tiny rosettes of paddle-shaped leaves that over time form short stems. Plants typically reproduce via gemmae, modified leaves produced in winter that slough off the plant and sprout, but throughout the year they will also send up short, wiry stalks that bear one to several moderately large, bright pink flowers that will self-pollinate and produce small amounts of seeds. Seeds require no special treatment to germinate but may take some time to sprout.

Created by the (in?)famous Ivan Snyder, this variable variant of D. spatulata is a cross of 3 localities/varieties: Wentworth Falls x Woronorra River x var. gympiensis. Rosettes are relatively flat an average around 1.5-2 inches in diameter, with evenly tapered wedge-shaped leaves bearing very short petioles, and under good light they can readily turn wine red. Flower stalks bear many traits of var.gympiensis, being held at an angle and fairly short, sometimes hairy, and producing large clustered flowers at the tips. Blooms may turn out a rich pink, or pure white. This is not a dividing, clumping form typically, but seeds can be sown to form a carpet colony. Packets contain 40+ seeds each. This species requires no special treatment for germination, and grows best in warm, wet, strong light environments. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail. This locality from Florida is known for producing a couple of distinctive forms of D. capillaris. This form is the flat rosetted version, growing to around 2 inches across on average with paddle shaped leaves bearing thin glabrous petioles and, when fully mature, very broad, triangular to near-rounded lamina (similar to D. burkeana). Coloration is attractive, petioles usually staying green but can blush red, and the lamina typically a bright crimson to nearly poppy red. Short, wiry stalks are produced most often in summer that bear several small, delicate light pink self-pollinating flowers. This species is great as a singular display plant, or developing carpeting colonies. Packets contain 30+ seeds each. This species requires no special treatment for germination, and tolerates a wide range of conditions but will do best in very warm, wet, strong light environments.
