    U. longifolia is one of the easiest large bladderworts to grow, tolerant of a wide range of wet soil types and temperatures; leaves often reach between 6-12" in length (some may grow even longer), and if given mild seasonal cues will often send up numerous stalks in mid winter to early spring that sport several large, brilliant violet and yellow blooms up to almost 2" across. Packets contain 50+ seeds; these should be able to be cold-stored for long periods if necessary and should germinate readily on moist soil. Plants grow best in an airy sphagnum or peat/perlite mix, kept very moist to even waterlogged. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail. US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.

A relative of the more familiar U. dichotoma, this bladderwort is an Australian endemic that produces sparse mats of thin leaves and stalks that bear small but beautiful multi-hued violet and yellow/white flowers. Germination of many Utricularia seeds is not always a simple affair, but may be good for a challenge determining seasonal, chemical, or other cues to trigger sprouting, and this species is likely to be similar. Packets contain approx. 40-60+ seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. A South American endemic and a great beginner plant, this somewhat shade-loving species develops moderately to large-sized rounded leaves that are often marked in prominent purple veins, and thick flower stalks that bear self-pollinating purplish flowers marked in the center with darker hues and a yellow spot. Seeds of this species are capable of being stored cold for years and germinate readily on moist soil. Packets contain approx. 30-50+ seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. Crosses between x moorei and x farnhamii or x readei produce incredible offspring; this sort of parentage has resulted in cultivars like 'The Kraken', and undoubtedly combining a particularly deep red-purple plant like the Sunbelle clone here and a famous high-contrast giant like "Lunch Box" (a richer colored 'Leah Wilkerson' imposter) will produce showstoppers. Packets contain approximately 20 seeds, and require cold stratification. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. This is a cross with massive potential, sure to produce some incredibly high-contrast x moorei plants. The pod parent is a seed-grown clone of 'Hurricane Creek White' that often opens with a red tint to the exterior before aging to pure green and white with a snow-white mouth, and the pollen parent is the most sought-after solid-red atropurpurea out there, pure crimson with a bright yellow interior that ages to solid red. Offspring are almost certain to have extremely pale pitcher mouths and rich red tubes. Packets contain approximately 20 seeds, and require cold stratification. This cross will likely produce plants that look like giant copper-topped x catesbaei. The pod parent is the largest of my oreophila "North Sound" x purpurea "Giant #1" clones, with 8-10 inch tall pitchers that sport massive hoods nearly as wide in some cases, and the pollen parent is my largest plant, throwing bronze-topped tubes over 30 inches tall even in my dry climate. Expect large, cold-hardy, vigorous, and bronze offspring. Packets contain approximately 20 seeds, and require cold stratification. This is a cross with a lot of high color, high contrast, and weird-shape potential. The pod parent is a plant with vermillion pitchers and a gaping, angular mouth that does not look unlike some 'Reptilian Rose' pitchers, and the pollen parent is a giant of a plant with gaping pitchers that look almost like pure leucophylla. Offspring will hopefully have a lot of brilliant red and white contrast, and maybe some angular shapes similar to "Chaos" or 'Reptilian Rose.' Packets contain approximately 20 seeds, and require cold stratification. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. A cross with giant, colorful potential; the pod parent is a vermillion plant with red-on-red veining and an angular, gaping mouth not unlike the form of 'Reptilian Rose', and the pollen parent is a mimic of the famous 'Leah Wilkerson', a red and white giant with richer color. Offspring are likely to be vigorous, high-contrast in color, and may sport angular mouths; with any luck, this may produce plants with similar appearances to "Chaos" or "Crown of Thorns." I made this cross in hopes of bringing back out traits of 'Red Sumatra' and brightening them up with more white. The pod parent is an unknown cross with the well-known ruby red Florida x moorei cultivar, and displays variable color from green with stark red veins to richly ruby tinted around the mouth and lid. The pollen parent is a now famous giant 'Leah Wilkerson' mimic with high contrast red and white color and vigorous growth. Packets contain approximately 20 seeds, and require cold stratification. This is a cross between a cultivar of my own making and a famous giant; 'Red Beret' grows like a red-lidded alata on steroids and maintains a crisp, almost military-precise cut of color under the lid and sharp veins while almost patternless on the exterior, and "Lunch Box" is a 'Leah Wilkerson' mimic with richer color. Offspring should be large, marked with stark red coloration under the lid and in the throat, and lightly white-spotted in the upper pitcher and lid. Owing to the size and vigor of both parents, they should also be fast-growing, large, and fairly cold-hardy. Packets contain approximately 20 seeds, and require cold stratification. A whopper of a cross between two famous parents; "Lunch Box" is a richer colored 'Leah Wilkerson' mimic that gets huge and develops high-contrast white and red pitchers, while 'Waccamaw' is one of the most sought-after, clean-colored var. atropurpurea out there with short but elegant blood red pitchers and yellow interior tubes that age to the same crimson color. Offspring will likely be variable, but vigorous and extremely colorful. Packets contain approximately 20 seeds, and require cold stratification. If you like cantaloupe or other muskmelons and have a penchant for small and colorful, this is a great one to try out. The scrambling vines bear little yellow flowers that give way to roughly 4 inch long, ovular melons striped in rusty red-orange and cream/yellow, the flesh inside a creamy yellowish color similar to the "vine peach" melong and, in my experience so far, a bit less sweet than cantaloupe. Best started indoors and planted out after frost for a long growing season. Packets contain approx. 15 seeds each. Once considered to be a possible new carnivorous plant group, Proboscidea and its relatives are now relegated to para-carnivorous at best, or more commonly "murderous plants." This species can get large, adult plants measuring several feet across with multiple branches, leaves held on thick petioles and roughly spade-shaped. At the ends of each branch spikes of large, fleshy, 5-lobed flowers form, typically pale pinkish mauve in color with darker spots and a yellow stripe leading into the throat. These flowers also have two-lobed stigmas that move when touched, the lobes folding together to capture pollen or avoid damage. All parts of the plant are covered in tiny, sticky glandular hairs that regularly capture small insects (defense against gnats and aphids) and will attract small assassin bugs that feed on the victims. Pollinated flowers develop unique pods that, when young, can actually be harvested and cooked as a vegetable, but when mature shed their fleshy outer coating and the narrow tips split to form a pair of wickedly sharp hooks used to snag animals and carry them about to disperse seeds (occasionally crippling the animals, and thereby providing the seeds with fertilizer). Seed packs will contain approximately 10+ seeds. These seeds appear to have a fridge-storage shelf life of only a few years, so sow quickly at the start of the growing season. Please note: Proboscidea louisianica cannot be shipped to Washington State. A small but fast-growing butterwort found through much of the southeastern US and the Caribbean, this version from Texas grows to often not much more than an inch in diameter, and produces flowers almost the same size that start out nearly white and age to lavender over time. No special treatment needed for the seeds, but the seedlings and plants do need regular feeding to grow and produce seeds (it's a short-lived annual and needs reseeding regularly). Packets contain approx. 30+ seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. Only one packet left of this rare locality; the Primrose butterwort is a fairly easy to grow swamp-loving temperate from the same region as many American pitcher plants are found, and this form is a pure white-flowered version from the famed Blackwater River area in northern Florida. The seeds have a small chance of being outcrossed with a standard purple-flowered form, but are more likely to have been the result of a selfing and so should produce many white-flowered babies. Packet contains approx. 20-30 seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. It's tiny, it's weedy, it's cute; the only real trouble with this species is remembering to feed it regularly so it makes lots of seeds! This annual butterwort is native to western Europe and the Mediterranean region, and often doesn't even exceed an inch in diameter when full-grown with short ovular leaves that often sport impressive red veins. The self-pollinating flowers are tiny and tube-shaped, with white petals and a purple tube and spur. To germinate, just sow on wet soil and wait. Packets contain approx. 30+ seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. Collected from plants that grow wild on our property in Platteville, this is a Colorado native but can be found through much of the Great Plains and into the mountain foothills. Seeds germinate after a cool winter stratification and like sandy, well-drained soils. Mature plants tend not to get much more than 12-18 inches tall, and in mid to late spring, early summer on a prolonged season, will reward you with some of the most electric to sky blue flowers you will ever see in your life, tinted with hints of pink or lavender. Packets will contain approx. 30+ seeds each. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. Commonly known as the Scurfy Pea, this is a wildflower native to much of the interior US, across the Great Basin and Plains and just into the woodlands to the east. Plants can grow to over 3 feet high in some cases, developing spindly branching bushes of short oblanceolate leaves and numerous stalks at the branch tips sporting sometimes dozens of small, lavender to electric violet pea-like flowers. each flower will develop a pod containing a single seed. Packets contain approximately 20 seeds; may benefit from cold stratification or scarification of the seeds to germinate, or simply patience after sowing. PLEASE CHECK LOCAL REGULATIONS BEFORE PURCHASING. A fast-growing annual plant native to much of the US west coast and southwest, Coyote Tobacco  is a relatively slender-leaved plant that grows up to 3 feet or more in height and is covered in small, sticky glands. The small, tubular flowers are produced in profusion at the tips of the stems, ending in a five-petaled star and primarily blooming at night (see second photo, a large plant illuminated at night looks like a starscape). Used by Amerindian tribes as a ceremonial tobacco, today the plant's use can be primarily as a native hawkmoth attractant; larvae feed on the plants while the moths pollinate the flowers at night (and interestingly, if too many caterpillars are present they can make the plant switch to blooming in the daytime to reduce predation). Packets contain at least 100+ small seeds, that require no special treatment. While I have had its relative laevicaulis (the Giant Blazingstar) available in seed form for a while, this species known as the Bractless Blazingstar is a Great Plains native (these seeds are collected from our property) and slightly more suited to midwestern climates but the same sandy soil preference. Generally biennial in nature, plants grow as flat rosettes of velcro-textured leaves in their first year to build energy, then spike into tall stems up to 3 feet high and branching in the second, topped with flowers up to 4 inches wide that look like a white firework. Packets will contain approx. 20+ seeds each. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. Native to much of the western US, this is a cold-hardy biennial semi-shrub that lives its first year of life as a spreading rosette of heavily lobed, velcro-texture leaves. In its second year it grows anywhere from 2-5 feet tall, branching heavily and producing at the end of each branch one to three night- to morning-blooming flowers that can be nearly 6 inches across and are brilliantly lemon yellow, with a spray of filiform stigmas sticking out of the middle. These flowers are followed by odd cylindrical pods with the same velcro-like texture as the leaves, and each contain numerous flat blackish seeds. Sowing a handful of seeds two different years can ensure establishment of blooming generations every year. Packets contain approx. 30+ seeds, and require a 2-3 month cold stratification to germinate. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. A west-coast native aster also called common madia, this annual wildflower looks a lot better than its name suggests (which actually comes from the oily, fragrant leaves that smell like an herbal tar). Plants are scrambling semi-shrubs that can grow up to almost 4 feet tall, each stem branching profusely and tipped by 2 inch wide, bright yellow daisy-like flowers. The seeds can be eaten, baked like sunflower seeds or ground into flour. Packets contain approx. 20+ seeds, and require no special treatment to germinate. A delicate species for the collector of wildflowers and US natives; unlike most other lupines this is a fast-growing annual that re-seeds every year. A west-coast native, it can be found in a variety of habitats from California to Washington. Plants average 8-30 inches tall, developing a splayed rosette of pinwheel-shaped leaves around a central stalk that sometimes branches as it grows, and is topped by small clusters of tiny but beautiful flowers that open indigo-blue and white and fade over time in the lighter parts to pink and purplish. Photos are of flowers from the seeds source; packets contain around 20 seeds each. No special treatment needed for germination. Originating from a wild Colorado locality years ago and since having been propagated in cultivation, this form of Rocky Mountain Iris is a spectacular plant in late spring bloom. Averaging around 2 feet tall when it flowers, the slender falls are a brilliant lavender-blue with white and yellow markings around the base while the standars are a similar, occasionally slightly darker hue. Though I cannot promise, this population did also contain pure white individuals whose genetics may be present among these seeds. The seeds require a 3 month cold stratification in winter, and may take 2-3 stratification cycles before germinating. Packets contain approx. 20+ seeds. Known as the tri-lobed Hibiscus or Flower-of-a-Hour, this annual flower is an Old World native that has been introduced to the US and is often grown as an ornamental as well as purportedly having some medicinal properties (at the least, like most other Hibiscus it's a fairly non-toxic plant). Plants can grow up to 2 feet tall, with mildly branching stems and tri-lobed, bumpy-looking leaves as well as translucent sepals that protect developing flowers and seed pods, all covered in fine hairs. The blooms are early-morning, very ephemeral things, as their common name suggests popping open for only an hour or two (unless it's cool or cloudy) to display beautiful white petals with deep maroon bases. Seed packs contain approx. 20 seeds. Nothing special required to germinate these. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. My back yard has become an experimental breeding ground for brilliantly colored giant sunflowers, of which these seeds may produce a variety of appearances from. Influence has been had from Mammoth Russian, Evening Sunset, and a handful of other cultivars, producing plants that range anywhere from 5-12 feet tall and produce anything from several 8 inch blooms on branching stems to a singular bloom up to 15 inches across. Colors too can vary from yellow flushed with oranges and rust at the petal bases to entirely deep rusty red or maroon. Great for making garden borders or a sunflower forest to wander through, and some may even produce seeds big enough to roast and eat. The most classic beginner's sundew out there, this is the plant so rampantly mislabeled as D. spatulata in common garden centers and even some specialized nurseries. Plants may grow to around 2 inches in diameter, with flat rosettes of distinctly spoon-shaped leaves (narrow petioles broadening into more or less teardrop-shaped to rounded lamina) that are bright green with red tentacles to solid crimson in strong light. The tall, wiry stalks bear several small, self-pollinating hot pink flowers, and plants often divide and bud off old leaves to form dense, clumping colonies. Packets contain 50+ seeds each. This species requires no species treatment to germinate, and will grow in just about any environment you can grow carnivorous plants in. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail. US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. One of the most distinctive D. spatulata varieties, this northern Australian taxon develops rosettes between 1.5-2 inches in diameter of flat, narrow strap or wedge-shaped and bright lime-green leaves with red tentacles (and sometimes a nice red blush as well in the leaves themselves). It is most famous however for its flower stalks, which are short, often held just above or at the soil level, and incredibly hairy, with relatively large and metallic hot pink self-pollinating blooms stacked practically on top of each other at the end. Not typically a plant to divide often or bud off old leaves, seeds can be sown to develop an attractive carpet. Packets contain 40+ seeds each. This species requires no species treatment for germination, and grows best in warm tropical conditions with strong light. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail. US shipping only.
