Pygmy sundews are typically well-known for their habit of rarely producing seeds, and when they do, those seeds being tough to germinate...this is one of the few exceptions! D. omissa grows to not much more than an inch across, with tiny rosettes of paddle-shaped leaves that over time form short stems. Plants typically reproduce via gemmae, modified leaves produced in winter that slough off the plant and sprout, but throughout the year they will also send up short, wiry stalks that bear one to several moderately large, bright pink flowers that will self-pollinate and produce small amounts of seeds. Seeds require no special treatment to germinate but may take some time to sprout.
    Packets contain 30-40+ seeds each.
Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.

This form of D. intermedia is nearly identical in all ways to the standard variants, but for one detail: it's pure, glowing green. Plants tend to make rosettes around 2 inches in diameter, with paddle-shaped leaves splaying out in all directions. Color remains neon green no matter how strong the lighting is (but light should be high for best health in this full-sun plant). Flower stalks are of moderate height and bear small white blooms that self-pollinate readily. Seeds require a 4-week cold stratification to germinate.
Packets contain approx. 20 seeds each.

Collected from plants that grow wild on our property in Platteville, this is a Colorado native but can be found through much of the Great Plains and into the mountain foothills. Seeds germinate after a cool winter stratification and like sandy, well-drained soils. Mature plants tend not to get much more than 12-18 inches tall, and in mid to late spring, early summer on a prolonged season, will reward you with some of the most electric to sky blue flowers you will ever see in your life, tinted with hints of pink or lavender. Packets will contain approx. 30+ seeds each. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. While I have had its relative laevicaulis (the Giant Blazingstar) available in seed form for a while, this species known as the Bractless Blazingstar is a Great Plains native (these seeds are collected from our property) and slightly more suited to midwestern climates but the same sandy soil preference. Generally biennial in nature, plants grow as flat rosettes of velcro-textured leaves in their first year to build energy, then spike into tall stems up to 3 feet high and branching in the second, topped with flowers up to 4 inches wide that look like a white firework. Packets will contain approx. 20+ seeds each. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. If you like cantaloupe or other muskmelons and have a penchant for small and colorful, this is a great one to try out. The scrambling vines bear little yellow flowers that give way to roughly 4 inch long, ovular melons striped in rusty red-orange and cream/yellow, the flesh inside a creamy yellowish color similar to the "vine peach" melong and, in my experience so far, a bit less sweet than cantaloupe. Best started indoors and planted out after frost for a long growing season. Packets contain approx. 15 seeds each. As the Rich Sweetness is to cantaloupe, so this is to a honeydew. The standard melon vine and yellow blooms produce squat, rounded and slightly ribbed melons up to about 4 inches in diameter, that when mature develop a striking orange color with two-tone green bands in between. The interior is mildly and musky-flavored and bright green, good for adding to smoothies or salads. Packets contain approx. 15 seeds each. One of the quintessential beginner carnivorous plants, and one of the better ones to try if it's your first time with seeds. This species can grow to over a foot across (though usually 4-6 inches) with semi-erect, strap shaped leaves colored bright yellow-green with red tentacles. The leaves will actively move when stimulated by prey, wrapping around whatever is fed to or caught by them. Typically prolific in blooming, when happy they will send up hairy, foot long stalks with numerous very large, self-pollinating pink flowers. Packets contain 30-50+ seeds each. This species requires no special treatment for germination, and grows in a variety of conditions but will do best in sandy soils in cool, strong light environments. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail. US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. My back yard has become an experimental breeding ground for brilliantly colored giant sunflowers, of which these seeds may produce a variety of appearances from. Influence has been had from Mammoth Russian, Evening Sunset, and a handful of other cultivars, producing plants that range anywhere from 5-12 feet tall and produce anything from several 8 inch blooms on branching stems to a singular bloom up to 15 inches across. Colors too can vary from yellow flushed with oranges and rust at the petal bases to entirely deep rusty red or maroon. Great for making garden borders or a sunflower forest to wander through, and some may even produce seeds big enough to roast and eat. Packets contain approximately 20+ seeds and require no special treatment to germinate. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). One of several US native species of blanketflower (though the exact species is unknown), this brilliant perennial produces fuzzy clusters of leaves from which tall stalks shoot up, topped by brilliant carmine blooms whose petals are edged in yellow. The flowers are followed by a puffball looking seedhead that falls apart into dozens of seeds. Packets contain approx. 20+ seeds, which may benefit from but don't necessarily need a cold stratification. A west-coast native aster also called common madia, this annual wildflower looks a lot better than its name suggests (which actually comes from the oily, fragrant leaves that smell like an herbal tar). Plants are scrambling semi-shrubs that can grow up to almost 4 feet tall, each stem branching profusely and tipped by 2 inch wide, bright yellow daisy-like flowers. The seeds can be eaten, baked like sunflower seeds or ground into flour. Packets contain approx. 20+ seeds, and require no special treatment to germinate. Native to much of the western US, this is a cold-hardy biennial semi-shrub that lives its first year of life as a spreading rosette of heavily lobed, velcro-texture leaves. In its second year it grows anywhere from 2-5 feet tall, branching heavily and producing at the end of each branch one to three night- to morning-blooming flowers that can be nearly 6 inches across and are brilliantly lemon yellow, with a spray of filiform stigmas sticking out of the middle. These flowers are followed by odd cylindrical pods with the same velcro-like texture as the leaves, and each contain numerous flat blackish seeds. Sowing a handful of seeds two different years can ensure establishment of blooming generations every year. Packets contain approx. 30+ seeds, and require a 2-3 month cold stratification to germinate. PLEASE CHECK LOCAL REGULATIONS BEFORE PURCHASING. A fast-growing annual plant native to much of the US west coast and southwest, Coyote Tobacco  is a relatively slender-leaved plant that grows up to 3 feet or more in height and is covered in small, sticky glands. The small, tubular flowers are produced in profusion at the tips of the stems, ending in a five-petaled star and primarily blooming at night (see second photo, a large plant illuminated at night looks like a starscape). Used by Amerindian tribes as a ceremonial tobacco, today the plant's use can be primarily as a native hawkmoth attractant; larvae feed on the plants while the moths pollinate the flowers at night (and interestingly, if too many caterpillars are present they can make the plant switch to blooming in the daytime to reduce predation). Packets contain at least 100+ small seeds, that require no special treatment. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). Originating from a wild Colorado locality years ago and since having been propagated in cultivation, this form of Rocky Mountain Iris is a spectacular plant in late spring bloom. Averaging around 2 feet tall when it flowers, the slender falls are a brilliant lavender-blue with white and yellow markings around the base while the standars are a similar, occasionally slightly darker hue. Though I cannot promise, this population did also contain pure white individuals whose genetics may be present among these seeds. The seeds require a 3 month cold stratification in winter, and may take 2-3 stratification cycles before germinating. Packets contain approx. 20+ seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. This may be one of the most impressive ornamental plants I have ever seen, let alone grown; plants can get 3 feet tall or more if grown for long periods of time, and under proper lighting develop leaves and stems that are, in fact, BLACK in color. Not the nearly-so purplish or maroon that a lot of plants may sport, this thing turns an ominous inky color when it's happy. The flowers and fruits are equally striking, blooms star-shaped and a rich, deep violet, turning into small round fruits that start out just as black as the rest of the plant before ripening to a brilliant scarlet, contrasting with the foliage. Though called ornamental, the fruits are edible, and pack a 20,000 Scoville rating heat (so if wanting to spice something without adding a lot of extra flavor, they're great to use). Packets or dried fruits contain approx. 20+ seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. Grown for appearance but can be eaten too, as a colorful addition to salads etc., this ornamental pepper cultivar is a short, stocky plant that often doesn't get more than a foot or two tall, and once mature loads itself first with light purplish star-shaped flowers that develop into slender, curving fruits that age from white (in this variant; some may start out purple) through yellow, orange, and finally bright red. The fruits have no heat, nor much strong flavor (hence typically grown ornamental), and dry with ease. Packets (or dried fruits) contain approx. 20+ seeds. PLEASE CHECK LOCAL REGULATIONS BEFORE PURCHASING. Also known by such names as Devil's Trumpet or thorn-apple, this likely Central-American native is a fast-growing annual that forms short bushes of velvety, serrated leaves that will give off a pungent odor when disturbed. Like its larger cousin D. inoxia this form will produce white trumpet-shaped flowers, but tends to be smaller in stature with blooms averaging around 4-6" in length. The flowers are followed by spiky pods filled with black seeds. This is not a plant to be grown around small children or animals that like eating the garden flowers, as it contains powerful hallucinogenic toxins and should not be eaten. Packets contain approximately 20+ seeds, and need no special treatment to germinate. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). CHECK LOCAL REGULATIONS BEFORE PURCHASING. Known by many names, Datura inoxia is a fast-growing annual plant native to the southern US and Central/South America that can display in a number of forms depending on conditions, from a small and scraggly herb to a bush up to 4 feet or more tall. The velvety leaves give off a pungent odor when disturbed, and the flowers, similar to their cousins the Angel's Trumpets, are large funnel-shaped white blooms that face skyward and are edged in odd tendrils. The seedpods provide another common name, thorn-apple, being incredibly spiky and moderately large. This is not a plant to be grown where small children or unwise animals may be present, as it is also famed for containing powerful psychoactive toxins and should not be eaten in any fashion. Packets contain approx. 10 seeds, and need no special treatment. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class or Priority). US shipping only. Byblis are uncommonly grown as is, hybrids even rarer especially as sometimes it's hard to get the cross to succeed. This particular hybrid however seems not only fairly easy to produce, but easy to grow as well thanks to the female parent. Exhibiting rapid growth, small and delicate flowers, and sometimes the self-pollinating traits of B. liniflora, it also sports serrated, darker purple petals, red flushes (sometimes, not always) in the stems and leaves, and a more slender, erect growth form like B. rorida. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.

The Blue butterwort is a small, fairly easy-growing temperate butterwort from the southeastern US, with rosettes of folded leaves up to 6" across (though often much smaller) and incredibly variable flowers that come in shades of purple-veined white to solid indigo. This version originated from seed germinated by me and tends to produce chunky blooms that are bright white to light lavender and heavily veined in deep blue-purple. Packets contain approx. 30+ seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. Only one packet left of this rare locality; the Primrose butterwort is a fairly easy to grow swamp-loving temperate from the same region as many American pitcher plants are found, and this form is a pure white-flowered version from the famed Blackwater River area in northern Florida. The seeds have a small chance of being outcrossed with a standard purple-flowered form, but are more likely to have been the result of a selfing and so should produce many white-flowered babies. Packet contains approx. 20-30 seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.

A relative of the more familiar U. dichotoma, this bladderwort is an Australian endemic that produces sparse mats of thin leaves and stalks that bear small but beautiful multi-hued violet and yellow/white flowers. Germination of many Utricularia seeds is not always a simple affair, but may be good for a challenge determining seasonal, chemical, or other cues to trigger sprouting, and this species is likely to be similar. Packets contain approx. 40-60+ seeds.

A South American endemic and a great beginner plant, this somewhat shade-loving species develops moderately to large-sized rounded leaves that are often marked in prominent purple veins, and thick flower stalks that bear self-pollinating purplish flowers marked in the center with darker hues and a yellow spot. Seeds of this species are capable of being stored cold for years and germinate readily on moist soil. Packets contain approx. 30-50+ seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. Looking for an orchid to try as a first-time grower? Or for something at least a little different from the common garden center moth orchids? This is a great option to try, and even one that, unlike most orchids, can be sprouted from seeds without special conditions. All you need is some moist, airy soil of some sort (sphagnum and orchid bark works well) and time. Plants tend to produce one or two long, lance-shaped leaves that hug the soil, dying back to the tubers for a cool, dry winter period, and in summer send up stalks up to 2 feet or more tall that sport from one to over a dozen delicate white and lavender flowers that easily self-pollinate. Packets contain likely 150-200+ fine, dust-like seeds.

A pygmy sundew that well and truly lives up to its name; mature plants may not even reach 1/2" across, developing tiny rosettes of paddle-shaped leaves that remain entirely green save for a yellow-orange tint to the tentacles. Hundreds can fit in a carpet in a two-inch pot, and unlike other pygmies, this one isn't quite so sensitive to root disturbance. Flowers, if produced, are delicate white. Packets contain 20+ gemmae each. Drosera gemmae are shipped wrapped in moist paper towels and plastic packs to avoid drying out, shipped via USPS First Class mail. US shipping only. If you are expecting detrimental weather that may impact survival of the gemmae, please contact me immediately when ordering; if otherwise damaged upon arrival or package is lost in transit, please notify immediately to arrange replacements where possible.
