Sarracenia purpurea ssp. venosa "Tattnal County, GA" originates from a population of gorgeously colored and unique southern purple pitcher plants! What's interesting about this population is that it is considered the southernmost population of Sarracenia purpurea ssp. venosa. The colors here are what truly stand out. Spring colors tend to start out with green, boldly veined pitchers and age into ornately veined crimson pitchers. Let me tell you, in a tray of mixed purps, you can tell Tattnal's from a mile away in the best way possible. I imagine that this population of plants will become a staple in carnivorous collections! Size options (bareroot): Small- Juvenile, may or may not have adult pitchers Medium-Adult pitchers, may or may not be of flowering size Large- Adult pitchers, of flowering size and may have 1 or more growth points.

This species has earned the common name of “primrose butterwort” for the beautiful, overlapping, multi-lobed flower it produces similar in appearance to a rose. This amazing plant will also produce plantlets from the tips of established leaves, but needs warm temperate conditions to be happy. The plant you will receive will be between 1”-1.5” in diameter. The flower has a powdery blue-purple hue to it, paling out towards the edges, with   peek-a-boo “yellow pits” between petals. The foliage will be a rich yellow-green, low growing and triangular in shape. Pinguicula primuliflora “Rose” is a wetland loving ping from the Southern US, wanting wet and warm conditions to be happy.

An in-house Brambles Botanicals hybrid, Pinguicula “Professor Plum” is cyclosecta x ‘Faulisi’ #3 (of 11.) We named this plant for its luscious, plum-purple flowers with subtle, darker venation and darkening, almost blue hues and slight ruffles toward the ends of the petals. The spur is also purple while the flower throat is starkly white. The leaves have a subtle but solid midrib and plum-colored, upturned margins. When dormant, however, the leaves can turn almost solidly green. The plant you will receive will be between 1"-1.5" in diameter. We would consider this to be an intermediate-advanced level plant.

To the best of our knowledge, this particular butterwort was collected somewhat recently by Fernando Rivadavia from around the Mexican town of Molango in the state of Hidalgo, making it quite rare in collections. It produces beautiful purple flowers with even deeper purple markings where the petals meet, but the real reason to grow this butterwort is for its leaves - they’re lanceolate-shaped with distinct, cupped margins that fade as the leaves become equally distinct petioles, the latter of which is rare amongst butterworts. The distinct petioles remind us of Pinguicula acuminata but “Molango’s" actual leaves aren’t as broad. “Molango’s" leaves also flush a gorgeous mottled pink with darker, purple venation but in contrast, the center or rib of the leaf remains green. It’s important to note that while in active growth, Pinguicula “Molango” likes being potted in a mossy mix that’s kept quite wet at all times. “Molango” will go extremely dormant at which time it must be kept much drier. The plant you will receive will be between 1”-1.5” in diameter. We would consider this an advanced level plant.

'Night Sky' is a cultivar originating from a rubra gulfensis x leucophylla cross with curvy pitchers and brilliant white and purple tops, and its offspring sport many similar traits. This plant seems to be somewhat miniature, only reaching to around a foot tall (though may get larger once vegetatively mature), with ruffled lids that curve forward smoothly from the back of the tube, and open with pinkish overall tones before aging to a contrasting bright white with deep red-purple veins.

Available divisions are medium-sized for the plant and may bloom in a season or two; grown in low humidity. Plants ordered in winter may arrived without leaves, dormant.

Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. Two seed-grown plants currently available, approx. 2" in diameter. The "select" seedlings I'm holding back are showing signs of rich red color and heavy pattern on thin pitchers, and I expect all will develop into slender, easy-growing plants with large traps, scalloped lips with dark striping, and rich red mottled pitchers.
