    S. alata x minor is a spectacularly dense and vigorous grower that creates an all-season display in the garden. Plant features the characteristic cowled hood and large white spots of its S. minor lineage, with an extra flair in the hood form courtesy of  the S. alata parentage. Colors range from orange-yellow to green and bronze hues as the season progresses. One of our favorites, it is a great plant to own for the beginner and experienced alike. Mature rhizomes will be based on your size selection(s). Plants will be packaged with care and shipped out on Tuesdays via USPS (1st Class or Priority at 1-3 days time in transit). A South American endemic and a great beginner plant, this somewhat shade-loving species develops moderately to large-sized rounded leaves that are often marked in prominent purple veins, and thick flower stalks that bear self-pollinating purplish flowers marked in the center with darker hues and a yellow spot. Seeds of this species are capable of being stored cold for years and germinate readily on moist soil. Packets contain approx. 30-50+ seeds. Seeds are shipped in padded envelopes to avoid damage in transit, via USPS mail (First Class). US shipping only. As seeds can take time and sometimes special treatments in order to germinate properly, returns cannot be accepted and refunds are not available upon receipt of the seed packets. If a package is lost in transit, please contact as soon as possible.

An easy to grow cross and one that can at times get quite large, this hybrid develops semi-erect rosettes of leaves up to 3" across (average closer to 2") with a slender tapered shape and slightly broader tip of the leaf. Coloration in good light can be solid red with olive undertones. Flower stalks are moderately tall and sport several large, very pale pink sterile blooms. While attractive as an individual, each plant will also eventually divide or bud from old leaves and roots to form packed colonies.

Available plants are semi-mature to mature, approx. 1.5" in diameter on average.

Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. Many plants are grown in high humidity conditions and may require acclimation, unless otherwise noted. If you are expecting weather that may be detrimental to the plants if shipped, please message me upon making your order! Shipping cost includes heat pack or cold pack/insulation as needed for detrimental weather conditions. If there are issues with the plants upon arrival, please contact me within 48 hours of receipt.
