A typical Venus flytrap does not mean it is an ordinary plant. It simply means the exact heritage of the plant is unknown, and so it falls into a catch-all category of "typical" as to not mislabel it as something it isn't. That said, as you can see, this typical Dionaea muscipula is anything but - with luscious red and green traps, and a propensity to clump, you'll have a colorful, living, murder-carpet in no-time! Priced right, this is a great beginners plant to cut your teeth on, or a perfect solution for filling in that empty space in your bog garden. It grows easily outdoors in temperate climates, or in greenhouses. The photos feature a clump of my propagation stock of these unique Venus flytraps, and you will receive one mature plant from this group with your purchase. Shipping options are outlined below, and as little as $5.00 for first class shipping, regardless of quantity of plants ordered from my shop (Jeremiah's Plants).

A pygmy sundew that well and truly lives up to its name; mature plants may not even reach 1/2" across, developing tiny rosettes of paddle-shaped leaves that remain entirely green save for a yellow-orange tint to the tentacles. Hundreds can fit in a carpet in a two-inch pot, and unlike other pygmies, this one isn't quite so sensitive to root disturbance. Flowers, if produced, are delicate white. Packets contain 20+ gemmae each. Drosera gemmae are shipped wrapped in moist paper towels and plastic packs to avoid drying out, shipped via USPS First Class mail. US shipping only. If you are expecting detrimental weather that may impact survival of the gemmae, please contact me immediately when ordering; if otherwise damaged upon arrival or package is lost in transit, please notify immediately to arrange replacements where possible.

One of several iterations of this hybrid that I have made, and one of only a handful that I have deigned to keep around, this cross is a perfect beginner's plant growing to around 2" across maximum with rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves that readily flush almost solid red in good lighting. Flower stalks are up to 10" tall, a sport a number of small but brilliantly pink, sometimes semi-fertile blooms. This will eventually turn into a colony, dividing or budding from the roots and old leaves quite readily.

Available plants will be approx. 1-1.5" in diameter on average, semi-mature to mature.

Plants are shipped bare-root wrapped in a moist paper towel, via USPS Priority mail; I typically ship Monday-Wednesday to avoid weekend hold-overs. US shipping only. Many plants are grown in high humidity conditions and may require acclimation, unless otherwise noted. If you are expecting weather that may be detrimental to the plants if shipped, please message me upon making your order! Shipping cost includes heat pack or cold pack/insulation as needed for detrimental weather conditions. If there are issues with the plants upon arrival, please contact me within 48 hours of receipt.

This Venus flytrap has a story! These were wild collected back in the 60s-70s by Northrop Carnivorous Plants. Then grown in the “wild” in Mississippi on Dan Winters property for years where they naturalized and reproduced on their own. When Dan moved to Colorado he brought a couple hundred plants with him and would bring more over the years every time he went back to his property. Those plants were then planted outdoors in Colorado and grown with minimal protection during the winter. Dan was convinced after growing them outdoors for years the more cold hardy plants were the ones that survived and reproduced. These were all propagated vegetatively (not TC) from plants I got from Dan about 10 years ago and are mature flowering-size plants. They grow easily outdoors in temperate climates, or in greenhouses. The photos feature a clump of my propagation stock of these unique Venus flytraps, and you will receive one mature plant from this group with your purchase.
